To support focused learning and positive social interactions, students are asked to leave personal mobile devices (ie: cell phones, or connected smart watches and fitbits) at home. If a device is brought to school, it must remain powered off or on silent and stored in a locker or backpack throughout the school day.
Using mobile devices during instructional time can be disruptive—not only to your child’s learning but also to the learning of others. We kindly ask that you do not contact your child directly during the school day. In the event of an emergency, urgent communication should go through the school office. School administration will ensure that messages are shared quickly, privately, and in a supportive manner.
If a mobile device must be confiscated due to misuse, it will be safely secured in the office until it can be returned.
This policy follows a province-wide directive from the Alberta Ministry of Education, which applies to all public schools. The Ministerial Order is intended to reduce unnecessary distractions and promote a consistent learning environment across the province.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
